No, “THIS” is Not the Thing That Will Finally Kill Obamacare

Government Health CareWhy do I discount/ignore every story that says “This is what will kill Obamacare?”

Because, as one of my commenters just said:

by years end the ACA will be so entrenched that it won’t be able to be removed.

The goal of the left is simply to keep Obamacare, even if it is just in name, as a part of the Federal Government, providing “healthcare” to one or more people who can be claimed to be victims. They only need to hang on, just barely, and they will have a permanent huge bureaucracy that, like every federal government program, will grow over time. Success does not matter, only survival.

NOTHING will kill Obamacare other than full legislative repeal and dismantling of every supporting organization, which requires a LOT of people becoming unemployed. You and I know how impossible that actually is. Thus, Obamacare will remain, at best, only mostly dead. tumblr_m7ixmdxISg1qdmk7to4_400[1]

No “bad result” or horrifying statistic will ever persuade any legislators or lobbyists on the left to do anything other than KEEP MOVING FORWARD. They will not be persuaded by failure at all. The delays are merely to make it more palatable and inevitable. The facts do not matter. The CBO report does not matter. Actual costs do not matter. Not to the leftists. Not to the people in the federal government.

So, do we simply give up and accept that America will be like the UK, with our NHS zombie medical system? Of course not. We’re America, dammit, we don’t do things like everybody else, that’s why we are the best! Obamacare will never die, and that’s ok. Here’s why:

Obamacare’s huge mistake is that it was too much too fast. Too much change, too much that violated the laws of human nature, too much cronyism, corruption, and stupidity. It could not and did not just happen smoothly to a passive and compliant populace.

The delays and exemptions (illegal though they are) are actually the left doing what they need to do to keep the dream alive, keep the departments in place, keep the funding, keep the rules-making bodies, keep the conversation going – to hang on by their fingernails. There are plenty of true believers out there to help them. They comment on my G+ posts all the time. Ignore them all.

The end result of Obamacare is that it will be, as all socialized medicine is, the lower tier of medical care. Go ahead, look around, ALL socialized medicine results in a two tier system, those who participate in it, and those who can afford to NOT participate in it. The only difference is the income level at which people are able to opt out, and that is kind of related to the homgeneity and general level of compliance of the population.

I remain quite optimistic about America’s future, and our ability to find a way around this disastrous legislation. That’s because I have faith in the American people, the American dream, and the brilliance of the individual.

Individuals will do what they need to do in order to retain control over their own lives, and to make choices for themselves. Americans do not simply lay back and take it, we just don’t. Never have, never will.

We have the seeds, and actually, quite healthy sprouts, of the worlds best Free Market Health Care system already in place. Consumerism and the profit motive will ensure that here in America, our two-tier health system has a dividing line far lower than in most other nations. In some countries, nearly everyone uses government doctors, and only the super-rich use the cash system. For Canadians, even the middle class can use the cash system by coming over to America. I believe that here in America, we’ll have a two-tier system with a dividing line not much above the poverty level. Yes, we are THAT good.

I live in a city with a very large population of illegal aliens, and a very large service economy. That’s a lot of people who were really never in the 20th century employer-provided health insurance market. We have TONS of quick care clinics, all over the place. They compete against one another to provide fast, effective, low cost health care on a cash basis, and some of them take insurance as well. The drugstores will provide you with their own brand of “prescription insurance” if you don’t have your own, so that you can get your medicines there.

I know, I was a cash patient for several years, needing biannual blood tests and montly prescriptions. I never had to make an appointment, paying cash was fast, cheap. My medical care was great. The free market has already taken over the “everyday basic” stuff, quite effectively. The free market also handles cosmetic surgery quite well – costs keep coming down and technology improves – just the same way things work in other industries.

Once insurance companies give up on Obamacare and come up with un-insurance plans, and clinics and doctors figure out a way around Obamacare – they will be competing for the business of all 300 million of us.

It will be chaos for a few years, and legislatively we have to keep fighting to get as much of Obamacare overturned as we can. However, American ingenuity will figure out how to work around all of it. Obamacare’s extreme overreach means that profit-minded organizations will figure out workarounds very quickly.

Obamacare will NOT result in “single payer for America”, it will bring back Individual Choice and Control over our own bodies. And it’s gonna be fun to watch. Just don’t get sidetracked by the true believers. Just as we have to work around the bad laws, walk around the true believers, just walk on by, pay them no mind. Don’t let them slow you down.

An example:

TACTICS: Syria and Obamacare

Today, Saturday Aug 31 President Obama decided that he would follow the Constitution and seek approval from Congress before engaging in miltary action against Syria. Lots of folks are going to be writing about this from all sorts of perspectives. I’m here to talk about the political tactics happening here, and how we can make sure that Conservatives don’t lose the game that Progressives decided to play.

Obama did not call Congress back into session. This isn’t an emergency that he wants an immediate answer for.  Hmmm. That’s interesting. He’s content to have the topic be discussed at length, for a week or more. Why would that be? Why is he acting all humble and Constitution minded now?

There is ALWAYS a political reason with these guys. ALWAYS. Look beyond the surface. What else is going on, what political purpose is he serving?

Distract the people, and divide the opposition.

Distract us from the push to defund Obamacare. He just has to run out the clock a few more weeks.

Divide us into pro-attack and anti-attack camps. Keep us argining amongst ourselves.

It’s brilliant. And it will probably work. Enough conservatives will decide to focus on Syria and pontificating on the war and terrorism and all of this, that discussion of defunding Obamacare will disappear.

We’ll be arguing amongst ourselves. The vote will be SOLID Democrats in favor of whatever Obama wants, his agenda will continue to progress without interruption, there is NO opposition to whatever he does.

Our side will be split, we’ll fight amongst ourselves, and we’ll lose EVERY battle. Not just Syria – we’ll lose Obamacare, Immigration, Syria, Debt Ceiling, everything

What to Do?defund_obamacare[1]

You can’t change how Congress works, so just quit worrying about that.  YOUR time is precious. I value your time enough that I’m making this short and to the point about what you can do.

Quit thinking about, worrying about, talking about, fighting about the things you cannot change.

Spend your precious time on the things you CAN change – YOUR Congressperson needs to hear from you about TWO things, only two things – NO to Syria, and DEFUND Obamacare. Tell him everyday, those two things. Once you get a yes from him, move on to the next thing…

Motivate your conservative friends to do the same. Teach your apolitcal friends what they can do. Inform them, help them, and move on.

What about the liberals? What about the people that argue with you on FB, Twitter and G+? What about them? IGNORE THEM. You won’t change their mind, see them as what they are – time vampires. Their comments don’t need to be answered. Whatever they say to or about you doesn’t matter. Stay on target.

NO to Syria bombing. NO to funding Obamacare.

And if you only have time for one? Focus on defunding Obamacare. That’s the one that has serious long term consequences for the nation.

Don’t let Obama’s tactic of “kindly allowing Congress to debate the Syria issue” be the distraction that they want it to be.

Divided We Fall – don’t let it happen – recognize and defeat their tactics

DEFUND OBAMACARE

The effort to defund Obamacare is a winnable strategy, and the other side knows it. We have facts on our side. We have polls on our side. ALL we have to do is stick together and win the messaging war. Sure, that is the worst bit of it, because the GOP has really never done that in the history of ever, but hey, it could happen.

That’s what I’m thinking when I see THIS story, and watch the first 45 seconds of the video. I see it as the first successful step in the left’s tactical broadside. How so? This is a Republican Strategist. How is this a lefty tactic to defeat the Defund Obamacare campaign?

Did you notice that immigration has become a big topic again? Did you notice that the left is sending their shock troops to Congressional Townhall meetings during the recess? Do you think that’s just kind of odd?

Yeah, this was supposed to be Obamacare Townhall Summer part 2. It was supposed to be all about us pressuring our Congressmen to support the Defund Obamacare movement. It was possibly victorious. We on the right had figured out that the cronyism and corporatism and Big Government Big Corporation exemptions were making the anti-Obamacare coalition pretty damned big. FAR bigger than just the Tea Party folks. We figured out that Union workers agreed with us, blue collar and white collar employees all over the nation were getting notes from their employers that the rates were going up or the coverage was going away.

Or that the BIG company was exempt, but the smaller company they work for wasn’t, or that they personally weren’t exempt. This seemed bad. We were going to be able to get them on our side.

We were going to be able to get a lot of the GOP folks on our side too, the opposition to the plan amounts to “well, it won’t work so let’s not even try” – and we can counter that at a Townhall by challenging our Rep to stand up and fight for us. I was pretty optimistic.

But the left saw it too. They activated THEIR side. They activated their standard, consistently winning strategy. Do I know for sure that it was discussed on Journolist? No. They all pretty much think alike, they don’t actually HAVE to write it down.

IMMIGRATION! That tears the GOP apart! It’s an easy topic to cover because it’s all about feelings and we can get people all kinds of worked up. It’s easy to find Republicans willing to come on camera and bash other Republicans. The Tea Party folks will get their knickers in a twist and fight each other over this. It totally kills any kind of expanded coalition that the GOP could have built.

So…instead of the GOP, and the Libertarians, and the Union workers, and the unemployed, and all of the middle class coming together to STOP Big Government Obamacare, we’re gonna just fight about immigration some more.

People…don’t fall for this. Focus. OBAMACARE. DON’T FUND IT.

Go to your Townhalls, write and call your congressman, pressure them to defund it. IGNORE IMMIGRATION FOR NOW. Don’t pick a fight with your anti-Obamacare allies on that issue, until the Obamacare issue is handled.

Pay attention to what the left is doing. When you see the subject change like it did – from Obamacare to Immigration – and when you see Republican Strategists go on the liberal shows and call other Republicans names, realize that this is the LEFT fighting a battle.  Don’t fight on their side.

Call for Religious Liberty

hhs.july_.2-300x204From Kathy Schiffer at Patheos I learn that today, the 2nd of July, the anniversary of the day that the Continental Congress adopted the resolution breaking ties with England, a group of religious leaders have gathered to sign their names on a call for Religious Liberty, here in these United States. It’s a direct response to the HHS final rule on the Obamacare contraception mandate.

They call upon Congress to expand the conscience protections to cover any “organization or individual that has religious or moral objections to covering, providing or enabling access to the mandated drugs and services”

Agree with the mandate or not, that is not at all the issue. The issue is the ability of the Federal Government to coerce “Citizen A, against his or her moral convictions, to purchase a product for Citizen B”. This violates the freedom of expression that our Founders so dearly protected. We all are going to have to take a stand for something. It seems to be time.

It is an open letter to all Americans. Here it is in its entirety

Standing Together for Religious Freedom

An Open Letter to All Americans

We write as an informal and diverse group of religious leaders, theologians, lay practitioners and community servants. We believe the doctrines of our respective faiths require something of us beyond the walls of our churches, synagogues, temples, and other places of worship. Those faith convictions manifest themselves through our daily interactions among family, neighbors, strangers and institutions.

Further, we recognize the United States, at its best, is unique among the nations of the world when it defends the self-evident freedom of all people to exercise their faith according to the dictates of their consciences. This freedom contributes to the vibrancy of our nation. Unfortunately, this delicate liberty of conscience is under threat.

Through its contraceptive coverage mandate, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) continues to breach universal principles affirmed and protected by the U.S. Constitution and other federal laws. While the mandate is a specific offense, it represents a greater fundamental breach of conscience by the federal government. Very simply, HHS is forcing Citizen A, against his or her moral convictions, to purchase a product for Citizen B. The HHS policy is coercive and puts the administration in the position of defining–or casting aside–religious doctrine. This should trouble every American.

Many of the signatories on this letter do not hold doctrinal objections to the use of contraception. Yet we stand united in protest to this mandate, recognizing the encroachment on the conscience of our fellow citizens. Whether or not we agree with the particular conscientious objection is beside the point. HHS continues to deny many Americans the freedom to manifest their beliefs through practice and observance in their daily lives.

The First Amendment states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” Free exercise includes the freedom to order one’s life, liberties and pursuits in accordance with his or her convictions. HHS breaches the free exercise clause and federal statutes (passed with broad bipartisan support) by selectively denying some Americans this constitutionally protected right.

Americans afford each other broad liberties with respect to lifestyle choices. However, the federal government has neither a compelling interest nor the appropriate authority to coerce one citizen to fund or facilitate specific lifestyle choices of another. If the federal government can force morally opposed individuals to purchase contraception or abortion-causing drugs and devices for a third party, what prevents this or future administrations from forcing other Americans to betray their deeply held convictions?

Therefore, we call upon HHS to, at a minimum, expand conscience protections under the mandate to cover any organization or individual that has religious or moral objections to covering, providing or enabling access to the mandated drugs and services. Further, because HHS claims to be acting on authority granted it by Congress, we ask Congress to consider how it might prevent such offenses from occurring in the future. Any policy that falls short of affirming full religious freedom protection for all Americans is unacceptable.
